Covid, The Organs, The Brain, & A Personal Story

I'm writing this after a deep and meaningful conversation and a request to put my thoughts down. I can't fully remember everything I said, but I'm going to try my best to communicate well here.

I'm going to share my personal experience of Covid-19 and my professional opinion of it all. My desire is to create an open-air and judgment-free conversation.

** Disclaimer, I do not treat Covid and am not commenting on treatment. I'm writing to share my personal experience of my journey and my assessments of mental health & pelvic health as that is what I am most qualified to professionally comment on.

To begin...I've had the Covid virus, to my knowledge, twice. I write this in early March 2022.

The first time I contracted Covid was in April 2021. If 0 is no symptoms / positive test and 10 is hospitalization....my experience was about a 5 (this is self-reported, I stayed home and healed without medical care, and I am very aware that self-assessed experience of pain is...

Survival and Womanhood

I've been sharing all about my experience with the nervous system.

Let's talk about Fight.

The “fight” in me is real and alive. Always has been.

It's very different now than in my past. Present day...it's palpable. Strong. Mostly at rest, not always on the surface anymore, but available if needed.

Alive and well!

This is ideal. Anyone who tells you anger is bad for you, read When The Body Says No, by Gabor Mate. I LOVE his explanation of the physiology of anger and anxiety. Reading that gave me all the permission I needed to drop into my belly and root and let that fiery anger soothe and empower me. It's satisfying (and physiologically healthy and "warming" per Gabor).

Look at this world. People have reasons to be angry. With the toxic positivity currents we're swimming in, one of the most important messages I give to my clients is that at times it's healthy to be angry. Almost every woman I work with moves through learning how to...

Truths About Me

Here are some truths, little snippets of me. I am writing here so you get a real feel for me...

1. I love LOVE movement as therapy. A good beat in a crowd moving their bodies under the red light just for the sake of moving is my best medicine. The lack of words. The eye contact. The sweat. The safety amidst anonymity (mostly, watch your drink!). I also love to roller skate due to the same dynamic. Adults working on their equilibrium and moving their bodies just for fun and practice inspires me and makes me smile big. Of course, I've encountered problematic behavior from so many people in these environments and have learned a lot about how to navigate myself when out alone in a movement environment from doing things like this for years. Expressing myself through movement has been one of my greatest teachers and I find the differences from verbal expression never-ending and so satisfying.

2. I learned to DJ, and do believe I have a very good ear. It’s so good for me...

Conscious Menstruation

People have been taught to ignore / objectify / pathologize / feel guilty and ashamed about Menstruation. The confusion can be debilitating, frustrating, and even painful. We change throughout the month but are expected to live the same way day in and day out. Being consciously aware of the menstruation cycle and phases has the potential to truly set you up for a different kind of life.

We have natural inherent abilities and gifts that come during menstruation and all other phases of the cycle. It is a deepening time, and if we learn to reorient ourselves to the possibilities, we can make a powerful shift in our lives and how we experience menstruation. Severe menstrual challenges are a signal of a body in need. Physiological, emotional, mental, hormonal, and many other levels can be a signal of this need.

The body talks, are you ready to listen?

When a system is aligned, vital, and vibrant, menstruation can be a time of centeredness, potency, and deepening vision....

Introduction to Holistic Anatomy

Have you ever been curious about the human body and how it connects to healing, emotions, and self-development?

There is much to uncover when it comes to the anatomy: the intricacies, the complexities, the all-encompassing influences and experiences that are held there. Pelvic anatomy isn’t just about what is visible. Our anatomy holds together so much more than just the naked eye can see. So much more to what we feel. If you have ever wondered how the physiology of our bodies can impact healing - ever wanted to become more in touch with your body and with yourself - understanding your own anatomy is a great place to begin.

Holistic pelvic anatomy is more than just various organs or systems we have grown familiar with (or not). Human anatomy is what's holding all that has influenced us, all of our experiences. They are all housed here, not just in these organs, but in the tissue, the nerves, our fascia, and so much more.

When it comes to understanding all that...

Holistic Pelvic Care (TM)

Uncategorized Apr 22, 2020

Holistic Pelvic Self-Care— most people don't understand what this means...

because we've all been conditioned to think anything “down there” is a mysterious area that’s separate from the rest of the body. Aside from abysmal sex ed and groan-worthy articles in Cosmo, most are entirely disconnected from their pelvic bowl; leaving them with painful or numb sex, awful menstrual cramps, vaginal challenges, and emotional wounds that interfere with daily life. Sounds melodramatic? Your mind is about to be blown.

The pelvis is the center of the body in most holistic modalities and theories on human health & the spirit. It is the home of many highly complex processes. It initiates menstrual cycles, releases and regulates hormones, creates life, gives birth, and is the bodily universe in many healing systems. It’s a powerhouse! Humans even hold memories and emotional stress here that can create complications for your health and vitality on a daily basis....

A Little More About Me

Those who know me well see my love of animals, listening skills, and unpredictable sense of humor. What makes me… “me”?

My friends and clients have described me as many things: present, devoted, inquisitive, playful, compassionate, intelligent, direct, grounded, and a boundary-setter determined to shake off life’s hardships to make room for magic.

My favorite motto is: “the truth is in the middle”.  I talk a lot about continuums and extremes. I am always searching for “the middle way” in my own psyche, body, health, relationships, and life, which is reflected in my approach to pelvic health work (in my own life and with clients). I find extremes difficult to maintain and challenging for female physiology (specifically, “life-force draining”).

One thing you should know about me: I am adamant about women having access to health, consciousness, autonomy, financial health, and the ability to make informed...
